About The Position
The Hazel Park School District is seeking an Occupational Therapist to join their team. This position is responsible for evaluating students, developing and implementing therapy plans, and collaborating with staff and other disciplines to meet student needs. The role requires adherence to district and state policies, and staying current with best practices in school-based therapy.
Requirements
- Full approval/licensure from Michigan's Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA).
- Significant experience and/or coursework in related fields.

- Related academic endorsements preferred.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate students and prepare appropriate therapy plans.
- Provide staff and community resource specific to certification(s).
- Provide therapy as determined by IEP, therapy plan, or behavior intervention plan.
- Assist in conducting Functional Behavior Assessments and developing/implementing Behavior Intervention Plans.
- Determine appropriate treatment plans through documented evaluations and consultations.
- Provide training on use of necessary occupational therapy equipment and strategies as deemed appropriate.
- Carefully document all services provided in an effective and clear manner.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to plan and implement classroom-based activities and sensory strategies/interventions.
- Meet the needs of all students effectively by working in partnership with other disciplines.
- Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rules, and school policy.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of research, theories, and practices associated with therapy in the school-based setting.
