About The Position

This position is a 1.0 FTE position located at the Syphax Education Center. The role involves functioning as an itinerant clinician to provide appropriate "educational model" occupational therapy services for identified students. The therapist will collaborate with teachers and school staff to provide integrated programs for special education students. Responsibilities include determining the appropriate model and level of service required for each student through occupational therapy evaluation procedures, documenting student progress with periodic updates, and keeping accurate records on caseloads including attendance. The position requires willingness to work with students from preschool-age through 21 years, with a variety of disabilities, and to collaborate with regular and special education teachers to provide integrated educational programming.

Requirements

• Must have or be eligible for Virginia licensure.
• Must be registered nationally as qualified by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT), or completion of registration upon employment.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in public school system occupational therapy program or pediatrics preferred.
• Dual endorsement in English as a Second Language and/or Special Education, or in any other content area, is preferred but not required.
