About The Position

The team in our Winnipeg clinic are passionate about enriching the health of their clients through a holistic approach. As the Occupational Therapist working in the LTD and PCVRS (Partner in Canadian Veterans Rehab Services) programs, you will objectively assess a person's ability to perform daily and work-related tasks, identifying physical/cognitive limitations and guiding rehabilitation, return-to-work planning, accommodations, and create safe, trauma-informed environments to support participation in meaningful work, school, and social roles. Requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of current Occupational Therapy standards, modalities and scope of practice; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists in your province.
  • Newly Licensed Graduates are accepted.
  • Valid Driver's License and reliable vehicle may be required.
  • In some cases, Valid Vulnerable Sector screening check.
  • In some cases, Proof of Tuberculin (2-Step Mantoux Test) clearance (within 6 months).

Nice To Haves

  • 1-3 years of experience as an Occupational Therapist is preferred.
  • Clinical experience is an asset in areas such as brain injury/neurological rehabilitation, mental health, musculoskeletal/orthopedic injury, home safety, ergonomics and/or return to work.
  • Passion for your profession and commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Superior interpersonal relations, communication, problem-solving, time management, computer and documentation skills.
  • Proficiency in computer skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficiency in computer skills.
  • Bilingualism - French and English are assets.

Responsibilities

  • Provide both individual and program-based treatments and assessments for individuals in Long Term Disability, and support veterans, Canadian Armed Forces members, first responders, and individuals facing physical, cognitive and mental wellness goals through the PCVRS program.
  • Evaluate the worker's physical, cognitive, and psychological functions, to support in either back to work or meaningful connections in their communities.
  • Create tailored, graded return-to-work plans with specific, measurable goals that gradually increase activity and build tolerance.
  • Concussion management and return to function planning.
  • Perform clinical evaluations, provide exercises, functional tasks, and cognitive strategies (e.g., pacing, energy conservation) to address injury-related deficits.
  • Identification of appropriate equipment needs with initiation of recommendations.
  • Teach techniques like mindfulness, relaxation, and sleep hygiene to manage pain, fatigue, and emotional distress.
  • Provide education to the client and employer about the recovery process, the benefits of staying connected to work, and their roles in the plan.
  • Identify suitable modified duties, adapt the work environment, and monitor progress where appropriate.
  • Record assessment and treatment interventions in the client's chart.
  • Excel in a collaborative, inter-disciplinary team environment.
  • Exhibit sound professional judgment.
