About The Position

The Occupational Therapist is a qualified, licensed professional who provides, evaluates, and supervises occupational therapy services to children and adults with autism in our Dallas Therapy Clinic, as prescribed by a licensed physician.

Requirements

  • A graduate of an occupational therapy curriculum accredited jointly by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation of the American Medical Association and the American Occupational Therapy Association.
  • CPR certification for all age groups.

Responsibilities

  • Performs initial evaluation and develops treatment plans in accordance with physician’s orders.
  • Implements treatment plan, provides occupational therapy services to children and adults with autism.
  • Instructs patients, their families, and other members of the service team in regards to therapy procedures.
  • Reports pertinent observations, reactions, and any patient behavioral issues to appropriate team member.
  • Maintains patient records in accordance with ATC standards, state and federal regulations, and submits documentation within required timeframes.
  • Participates in patient care conferences as needed, communicates with other team members, in order to facilitate coordination of patient care.
  • Supervises Occupational Therapy Assistant (when applicable) to accomplish the plan of treatment as developed.
  • Participates in training and meetings with ATC to learn procedures and develop skills and knowledge of Autism.
  • Performs all duties in compliance with ATC policy and procedures. Adheres to all rules, regulations, and code of ethics, guidelines, and codes in federal, state and local laws, which are concerned with the practice of occupational therapy.
  • May be required to meet with supervisor, technical support staff, human resources, or other support staff as needed to maintain therapy standards and patient care.
  • Incidental time is a part of the job responsibilities which includes, but not limited to, patient chart updates, patient notes and call logs, performance reviews, supervisory meetings, and training.
