About The Position

Wayside is seeking a creative, flexible, and energetic Occupational Therapist to join our Young Adult residential programs. This part-time position (20 hours/week) focuses on providing occupational therapy services to young adults (18-25 years old) and their families who are referred by the Department of Mental Health. The role requires a commitment to family-centered practice and offers flexible scheduling, with a potential for a full-time schedule by combining with another program. The salary range is $32,500.00 - $37,500.00/year, plus a pro-rated sign-on bonus.

Requirements

  • Strong clinical, observational, and writing skills.
  • Collaboration with mental health clinicians and other treatment providers.
  • Ability to assess safety in collaboration with the team and provide safety planning with effective OT interventions.
  • Direct client care in client homes.
  • Creativity to support program development and integrate OT throughout care.
  • Experience using clinical observations in assessment.
  • Strong skills in psychoeducation and consultation.
  • Ability to explain OT interventions to young adults, families, and other providers.
  • Ability to empower staff with various training levels to utilize occupational therapy strategies.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Experience serving adolescents with significant mental health needs.
  • Experience addressing functioning in the home or community setting.
  • Experience working with a diverse population of individuals.

Responsibilities

  • Provide assessments, treatment plan development, and direct intervention to young adults and families seeking OT support.
  • Collaborate with treatment teams to set and achieve therapy goals.
  • Work with a diverse team to support young adults and their families through treatment plan intervention, safety planning, and crisis intervention.
  • Provide consultation for direct intervention focused on addressing the client's functional goals.
  • Educate and consult with clinical staff, young adults, and their families/caregivers.
  • Provide home strategies and recommendations to families, including in-home services if applicable.
