About The Position

Occupational Therapists are responsible for organizing and conducting occupational therapy programs to facilitate rehabilitation of children with special needs. Directs patient participation in selected tasks to restore, reinforce, and enhance performance and facilitates the learning of those skills essential for function adaptation, self-care and productivity, under the supervision of their therapy lead, outpatient therapy director, and VP of Rehab/Education. Bethany Children’s Health Center is an innovative leader in the field of pediatric rehabilitation and 24-hour complex care. The hospital offers inpatient and outpatient services for children (ages 0-21) and is the only inpatient pediatric rehabilitation facility in Oklahoma. Our CARF accredited multidisciplinary team works with patients and their families to maximize the patient’s physical and cognitive potential, and ensure the family has the training and resources needed for a smooth transition from hospital to home. In 2021, the hospital received accreditation from The Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program (HFAP), the nation’s original independent accreditation program recognized by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). This distinction confirms that Bethany Children’s Health Center is providing high quality patient care as determined by an external process of evaluation.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited School of Occupational Therapy.
  • Ability to speak, understand, read and write English required.
  • Occupational Therapist License from State of Oklahoma or proven eligibility for licensing within 3-6 months of employment with temporary license.

  • Pediatric experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Upon provider referral, performs patient evaluation and develops specific individualized treatment plan including long and short term goals that are measurable and objective.
  • Performs individualized treatment procedures in a professional and compassionate manner to maximize child’s performance.
  • Collaborates and communicates effectively with members of the patient care team; performs timely and accurate documentation, and stays up to date on the most recent occupational Therapy techniques through research and CE.
  • Evaluates need, orders, and/or fabricates appropriate therapeutic equipment as indicated by patient need.
  • Participates in staff trainings, student observations, clinical instruction of students and interns, and family training opportunities.
