Develops and implements occupational therapy treatment plans for assigned patients; evaluates and modifies patient care treatments as appropriate. This role involves providing occupational therapy treatment to restore or maintain patients' ADL skills, performing evaluations and treatments in both inpatient and outpatient settings (approximately 90% outpatient, 10% inpatient), and coordinating the acquisition or creation of needed adaptive devices, durable medical equipment, and orthoses. The therapist will document patient treatments, evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries in a timely manner, and communicate regularly with physicians, interdisciplinary team members, patient families, and insurance companies regarding patient treatment and progress. Instruction and teaching of patients, family members, and caregivers on therapeutic procedures and home exercises are also key components of this role. The position requires continuous improvement of skills through education and learning opportunities to serve a diverse patient population, and attendance at staff meetings and in-service programs.
