About The Position

Innovative Therapy Concepts (ITC) is seeking an Occupational Therapist with a passion for acute care, especially in neuro or ortho trauma, to join their team at Northside Gwinnett in Lawrenceville, Georgia. This full-time position offers the opportunity to work with patients in critical medical states across ICU and progressive care units, requiring therapists to clinically problem-solve complex orthopedic injuries and manage mobilization and discharge needs. ITC, a Physical Therapist-owned organization founded in 2006, has partnered with Northside Gwinnett since 2013 to provide therapy services. The role emphasizes teamwork, excellent communication, multitasking, and flexibility. New graduates are welcome, as ITC provides clinical education and mentorship for a successful transition from OT school.

Requirements

• Graduate from a CAPTE-accredited physical therapy program

• Daily operation and basic maintenance of office equipment and machines such as phone system, fax, copier, etc.
• Must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment, machines and tools.
• Must be able to use body members to work, move or carry objects or materials.
• Must be able to exert up to forty (40) pounds of force occasionally and/or up to twenty (20) pounds frequently.
• Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of 100 to 150 pounds with assistance.
• Knowledge of all phases of the patient care process.
• Must demonstrate clinical competency in the practice of patient care and treatment, as well as qualities of leadership and sound judgment.
• Skilled in the art of human relations, problem solving, interviewing, counseling and discipline and conflict resolution; high level of stress.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in acute critical care areas of the hospital is beneficial but not necessary.
• Experience in neuro or ortho trauma is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Appropriately assesses and examines patients with varying diagnoses according to OT scope of practice.
• Treats patient within the OT scope of practice.
• Teaches patients how to use and care for orthotic, prosthetic devices, and other assistive apparati.
• Administers and interprets standardized assessments/tests.
• Fabricates splints.
• Recommends appropriate adaptive equipment for activities of daily living.
• Coordinates and leads groups.
• Maintains gym area and equipment.
• Provides education to patients, caregivers and associates regarding OT interventions, safety, community resources and outcomes.
• Attends and participates in patient care planning meetings as assigned.
• Supervises treatment and documentation of the occupational therapy assistant.
• Communicates and collaborates with all customers and interdisciplinary team members.
• Contributes to profits and revenues including marketing and productivity.
• Participates in budget development and cost saving efforts.
• Serves on performance improvement teams.
• Participates in community services.
• Delegates treatment tasks to COTAs and aides in accordance with OT state practice guidelines.
• Provides care and documentation in accordance with regulatory, legal, and reimbursement guidelines.
• Accepts responsibility for own growth and development through inservices, required programs and continuing education.
• Complies with all established hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
• Maintains CPR certification.
• All other duties as assigned.
