Requirements

  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists in your province.
  • 1-3 years of experience as an Occupational Therapist (New Grads are welcome to apply).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of current Occupational Therapy standards, modalities and scope of practice; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Valid Driver's License and reliable vehicle may be required.
  • Valid Vulnerable Sector screening check.
  • Proof of Tuberculin (2-Step Mantoux Test) clearance (within 6 months).
  • Passion for your profession and commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Superior interpersonal relations, communication, problem-solving, time management, computer and documentation skills.
  • Proficiency in computer skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • ADP Authorized Certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience within a Long-Term care will be an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive, evidence-based Occupational Therapy services to clients.
  • Perform clinical evaluations, including admission assessments, ADL assessments, specialized seating and positioning assessments.
  • Identification of appropriate equipment needs with initiation of recommendations.
  • Consult with local vendors regarding equipment trials and complete applications/funding letters to Ministry of Health, insurance agencies and other funding parties.
  • Provide education on seating and positioning, independence with activities of daily living, wheelchairs and adaptive aides as well as providing ongoing education to clients and family to improve function, independence and safety.
  • Provide ongoing evaluation of restraint use, wound prevention, falls, and injury prevention.
  • Record assessment and treatment interventions in the client's chart.
  • Excel in a collaborative, inter-disciplinary team environment.
  • Exhibit sound professional judgment.
