Requirements

  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in an occupational therapy curriculum accredited by ACOTE standards
  • Must have initial registration from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy
  • Must hold a valid and unencumbered occupational therapy license as required in the state of practice

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient needs
  • Develop patient recovery plans
  • Deliver occupational therapy
  • Address the whole patient and see them as an individual
  • Design programs to restore, reinforce, and enhance patients' physical abilities and independence
  • Adapt to the needs of the patient and find joy in the variety of the work and settings
  • Collaborate with peers and make referrals to help patients get the care they need to thrive
  • Train patients and caregivers on the skills needed to promote independence and productivity
