Occupational Therapist, Pediatrics - Surrey
About The Position
Monarch House is a child development centre providing seamless services to families impacted with Autism Spectrum Disorder and related developmental delays. If you are passionate about helping children and youth communicate to the best of their ability and enhancing their relationships while maximizing their quality of life, this is your chance to work with an interdisciplinary team to reach your goals. As an Occupational Therapist (OT) on our team you are responsible for developing programs that enable individuals to participate, to their fullest level, in activities that occupy their daily lives. Your client-base will consist of children (age 2-18) with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
Requirements
- At least 1 years’ experience working with children with ASD
- Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapist (OT)
- Experience and familiarity with assessment tools (standardized tests, etc.)
- Knowledge of current research and literature in the Occupational Therapist (OT) field
- Member of COTBC or (COTO)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to take initiative
- Flexibility in scheduling clients
Responsibilities
- Assess client needs and family priorities as part of an interdisciplinary team
- Complete assessments using tools such as standardized tests, criterion or curriculum referenced materials, or checklists
- Develop and implement a treatment plan for each client, based on assessment results
- Develop reports as required
- Consult to Behaviour Analysts who supervise Applied Behaviour Analysis Programs for Children with ASD and other needs
- Work collaboratively with the family and other community professionals
- Maintain knowledge in current evidence-based practices
- Collect data and make evidenced-based decisions in treatment
- Supervise students pursuing education in Occupational Therapy
- Represent OT department in Monarch House by contributing to clinical policies and procedures and other centre-wide visions
