Occupational Therapist, Outreach - FTR

BC Centre for AbilityVancouver, BC
CA$51 - CA$63Hybrid

About The Position

The Provincial School Outreach Program, hosted by the North Vancouver School District, provides specialized in-person and virtual support to school districts across British Columbia, with a focus on rural and remote regions. The program's team of outreach specialists travel throughout BC to conduct assessments, planning, and support for students with disabilities and diverse abilities. They also design virtual supports for school personnel. Program specialists in full-time positions travel one week per month and provide virtual educational support during non-travel time. Travel locations are typically confirmed three weeks prior to departure, and may occasionally involve weekend or holiday travel due to limited flight availability to rural and remote communities. The primary emphasis is on serving the immediate needs of schools, providing direct and indirect service to students and families. Consultants use their specialization to adapt to unique situations, requiring flexibility and innovation as circumstances can change at the last minute. In cases where a student is not attending school, specialists may discuss visiting the home for support or assessment. The essential service is making support felt by the school community through building strong relationships with students, families, and staff during in-person visits. This position involves collaborative innovation and learning to build and maintain connections across British Columbia, with an understanding of working in remote and rural regions and supporting students and families of Indigenous ancestry.
