The Occupational Therapist, Outpatient at Children’s National Rehabilitation & Specialized Care provides skilled, family-centered care to children, focusing on improving functional independence and participation in daily activities such as play, self-care, and school engagement. The OT conducts comprehensive evaluations and develops individualized, goal-driven plans of care, delivering play-based, evidence-based interventions to address fine motor, sensory, and activities of daily living. Working within an episodic care model, the therapist delivers treatment in distinct cycles of care focused on a specific functional need or goal, with ongoing reassessment to support progress as the child develops. The role also includes partnering with caregivers to support skill carryover and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to optimize outcomes, with the overall goal of maximizing each child’s independence and participation across home, school, and community environments.
