As an Occupational Therapist, you will provide wide-ranging services to help patients regain their ability to perform normal activities, self-care and responsibilities. In this role, you will focus on maximizing their treatment outcomes and assisting them in relearning necessary skills to lead independent, productive and satisfying lives. Most of your work will focus on rehabbing patients with neurological disorders and providing hand therapy. Caring for the organization and department gives you an opportunity to participate in special interest groups, committees and education. A caregiver in this position works days from 8:00AM – 4:30PM, with flexible scheduling. This caregiver will be based out of a primary location, but floating between Bath, Green, Stow, Tallmadge, White Pond and Lakemore will be required, as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Graduate of an Occupational Therapy Program accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association
  • Current Ohio licensure as an Occupational Therapist (OT)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a clinical area
  • Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) or CHT eligible
  • Interest in splinting patients or learning how to splint patients (OT Hand Therapy)

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and treat patients with physical, emotional, cognitive and/or psychosocial deficits which impact their abilities to successfully perform independent living skills.
  • Assess patient's ability to safely and effectively perform independent living skills.
  • Design the appropriate plan of care, including type and frequency of treatment.
  • Implement the treatment plan using appropriate modalities.
  • Document subjective and objective findings of patient progress.
  • Monitor and modify the plan of care as needed.
  • Seek consultation as necessary.
  • Educate the patient and family/caregiver about patient deficits.
  • Plan and/or assist with patient discharge from therapy services and treatment setting.
  • Provide information regarding appropriate selection/use of adaptive equipment and support programs.
  • Oversee the care provided by certified occupational therapy assistants and therapy technicians according to established licensing laws, state regulations and OT practice standards.
