About The Position

This is a contingent/PRN opportunity. The Occupational Therapist Inpatient evaluates the developmental and functional status of pediatric patients, administers treatment, fabricates, or recommends adaptive equipment and splints, documents evaluation results and patient progress, and provides patient and family education. The role involves evaluating patients with varied diagnoses to determine developmental or functional status using standardized measures or clinical observations. It includes identifying patient’s strengths and deficits, establishing goals, and developing an individualized treatment plan. The therapist will develop and administer therapeutic treatment to patients with developmental delay or functional deficits to provide optimal development, function, and independence. This includes utilizing developmental activities, modalities, and other treatment techniques to meet each patient’s specific needs and achieve therapy goals, observing, and modifying treatment plan accordingly. Fabrication, recommendation, or provision of adaptive equipment, splints, or casts to maintain functional body joint positions, restrict muscle contractures, prevent deformities, and improve function or mobility is also a key responsibility. The role also involves fitting patients and instructing them on the use of equipment, educating on treatment goals and therapy plans, instructing on therapeutic activities to follow at home, and evaluating ongoing compliance and understanding. Documentation in compliance with hospital and accrediting association requirements, and maintenance of administrative functions of individual caseload, including scheduling, entering daily charges, and submitting timely documentation are essential. The position requires attending continuing education programs and participating in departmental in-service training programs to enhance professional development, including participation in EBP. Conducting educational programs for hospital staff, students, and the community, and delegating to students from accredited programs, licensed and certified occupational therapy assistants, and unlicensed personnel, supervising care provided are also part of the role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy, required.
  • State of Ohio Licensure in Occupational Therapy, required.
  • Registered (R) by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy, required.
  • CPR certification no later than 60 days post hire or post expiration, required.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of occupational therapy work experience in a pediatric setting or clinical affiliation in area of pediatrics, preferred.
