About The Position

As a valued member of our interdisciplinary rehabilitation team at Alta Bates Summit Medical Center, you’ll play a vital role in helping patients regain independence and improve quality of life. You’ll work with individuals recovering from stroke, brain and spinal cord injuries, complex orthopedic procedures, and other medically challenging conditions that impact daily function. In this per diem role, you’ll assess patient needs and design personalized treatment plans that restore essential life skills—from self-care and mobility to vocational and homemaking abilities. Through compassionate care, skilled observation, and clear communication, you’ll build trust with patients, families, and fellow healthcare professionals. You’ll ensure compliance with all regulatory standards while maintaining a safe, respectful environment. Additionally, you’ll provide clinical supervision to therapy assistants and aides, and may serve as a mentor to students during clinical rotations.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited occupational therapy program.
  • Occupational Therapist (OT) or Occupational Limited Permit (OLP) license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification.
  • 2 years of recent relevant experience.
  • Critical thinking, complex problem-solving, and decisive judgment.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Knowledge and application of professional practice and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to work in a demanding work environment.
  • Ability to organize multiple priorities and complete work duties within expected timelines and requirements.
  • Computer and required technology proficiency/competencies.
  • Effective and efficient professional communication (verbal & written) skills.
  • Interpersonal skills, conflict resolution, teamwork/collaboration, customer service, and community relations abilities.
  • Ability to retain and apply new knowledge & skills.
  • Keeps abreast of professional practice development and advancement.
