About The Position

In collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, provides occupational therapy services including evaluation, treatment, and patient/family education across assigned care settings. Directs and oversees treatment interventions provided by COTAs and supervises rehabilitation aides in the performance of non-treatment, supportive tasks related to patient care and clinic operations. After one year of experience, may act as a student supervisor in accordance with organizational policies. Provides clinical oversight of COTAs and supervises rehabilitation aides in accordance with organizational policies and scope-of-practice guidelines.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved bachelor’s degree or higher program as a OT
  • State licensure (or eligible) as an OT.
  • CPR certification.

  • Previous clinical experience/rehabilitation experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Completes timely and thorough evaluations of assigned patients in accordance with established standards of care, practice guidelines, and organizational policies.
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members as appropriate to ensure evaluations are accurate, safe, and patient-centered.
  • Establishes realistic, measurable short- and long-term goals that address functional needs and are documented according to departmental standards. Goals are developed in collaboration with the patient, family/caregiver, and interdisciplinary team as appropriate.
  • Independently selects, implements, and progresses therapeutic interventions that are consistent with the patient’s diagnosis, medical status, and plan of care, reflecting sound clinical reasoning and current professional knowledge.
  • Demonstrates competent and safe use of therapeutic equipment and materials, as evidenced by supervisor observation and accurate chart documentation.
  • Provides timely and appropriate patient and family education related to diagnosis, treatment plan, safety, and home program, with education documented per departmental standards.
  • Adheres to all departmental procedures, professional standards, and documentation requirements, completing records accurately and within required timeframes.
  • Provides skilled therapy services within payer authorizations and applicable insurance, Medicare, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Demonstrates effective time management and productivity by completing assigned workloads on time, meeting departmental productivity expectations, and utilizing work time efficiently.
  • Demonstrates flexibility by providing coverage across assigned rehabilitation settings and service areas as needed.
  • Attends all mandatory education programs and can describe his or her responsibilities related to general safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Appearance is professional, neat, clean, and appropriate for the work environment.
  • Wears proper photo identification badge while on duty.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all hospital and patient information at all times, as observed by peers and management.
  • Attends monthly staff meetings and participates in monthly rounding process with manager to assure effective and timely two-way communications.
  • Participates in and completes required department specific education and training programs and can describe his or her responsibilities related to department safety and specific job-related hazards.
  • Follows safety and security policies including exposure control plans/blood borne and airborne pathogens.
