Job Description Summary: Evaluates and provides treatment under the scope of physical therapy, occupational therapy, or speech language-pathology. Associate has demonstrated advanced training beyond general practice as demonstrated by successful completion of the following post-graduate certifications: McKenzie Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT) Certification Credentialing or Diploma Certificate Herdman Vestibular Certification LANA (Lymphology Association of North America) Certification Certified Driver Rehabilitation Specialist American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) Board Certifications American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) Board Certifications American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) Board Certifications Responsibilities And Duties: 90% Evaluations, Treatment Planning, Treatment, Documentation and Discharge Planning Reviews patient referral for appropriateness and assures insurance authorization. Performs patient intake and clinical evaluation and establishes a Plan of Care. Re-evaluates and re-establishes the treatment plan according to progress and physician referral. Provides a written Plan of Care for certification by the physician/third party Payor as appropriate, per treatment setting. Administers treatment according to the Plan of Care and or supervises the licensed therapy personnel. Provides direct on site supervision of any patient related service provided as an adjunct to the Plan of Care. Communicates and plans with other health care members, physicians, and family members as appropriate. Instructs patient and or family with discharge needs, equipment, home programs and or continuation of services. Assists to identify qualified therapists/professional services for those patients out of the OhioHealth location who require follow-up care. Provides discharge information to physician, third party payers as requested and appropriate per treatment setting. Ensures consent to treat, and reinforces assurance of confidentiality with the patient. Completes documentation in a timely fashion according to department policies and procedures. Approves and countersigns all documentation or logged information completed by licensed therapy personnel for patient care provided under the direct supervision of the therapist. 10% Education and Administration Provides in-services and educational mentoring to other therapists, or staff members. Supervises and evaluates clinical students. Assists with the mentorship and education of other associates. Actively participates in post-graduate education & supervision, such as an APTA-Credentialed PT Residency Program when applicable as a mentor for residency physical therapists. Plans and develops research, conducts research, prepares presentations and engage in professional writing and/or speaking as appropriate. Participates in performance improvement, outcomes monitoring, marketing, and quality service initiatives as appropriate. Contributes to program development, planning and review. Participates in teams and or at meetings as assigned or appropriate. Keeps Rehabilitation Management informed of problem areas and suggests improvements, assists with monitoring cost effective use of supplies and equipment for treatment and efficiency of service. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (Required)
  • BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association
  • CHT - Certified Hand Therapist - Hand Therapy Certification Commission
  • OTR - Occupational Therapist Registered - American Occupational Therapy Assoc.
  • Fulfillment of equivalent combination of education, Experience and successful specialty examination completion to achieve advanced Certification within a specific, valid specialty of physical therapy, occupational therapy, or speech-language pathology.
  • Demonstrates advocacy for specialization through belonging to professional organizations related to specialty.
  • Certification s must fit the following criteria to qualify A passing score on the Certification exam (written and/or lab portion), or applicable portfolio for the following Certification s a. McKenzie Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT)b. Herdman Vestibular. LANA (Lymphology Association of North America) d. Driver Rehabilitation Specialist. APTA Certification categories include the following. APTA Geriatric Certification . APTA Neurologic Certification iii. APTA Orthopedic Certification . APTA Pediatric Certification .   • Demonstrates ongoing re- Certification and continued competence in certified area through consistent patient care, continuing education, study groups, program development, physician relations, staff education, mentoring.
  • Success of the Certification should be measurable using the balanced scorecard (i.e., the certified therapist can use the Certification to bill for patient services, track outcomes, track patient/physician satisfaction, etc. ).
  • Length of Experience in area of clinical specialty area dictated by Certification requirements.
