About The Position

Responsible for the delivery of treatment services to children ranging in ages from 0-21 years, evaluation services, and job-related department responsibilities. This role involves understanding and promoting Elizabeth Seton Children’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values, providing treatment for 10-12 patients per day, and supervising student interns. The Occupational Therapist will conduct initial evaluations and re-evaluations, develop and review patient care plans, participate in clinical quality assurance, and provide patient education. Reporting activities include daily notations, progress reports, and participation in rehabilitation rounds and staff conferences. Compliance with all established ESCR policies and procedures regarding quality assurance, safety, infection control, confidentiality, customer service, attendance, and professional conduct is required. Participation in department in-services and staff development is also expected.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree and/or Master’s/or Certificate in Occupational Therapy.
  • NYS License as a registered Occupational Therapist (OTR) or in process with permit.
  • Must maintain license in good standing.
  • Experience in clinical pediatric environment.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, transfer and position patients in therapeutic equipment on static and movable surfaces.
  • Must be able to stand and move freely while treating and supervising patients.
  • Demonstrate the ability to operate and utilize small electric power tools used in the fabrication of therapeutic equipment.
  • Must be able to assist in the evacuation of patients as necessary.
  • Strong communication and written skills compatible with the need to maintain ongoing interaction with CRC, Inc. staff patients and their families and comply with regulatory documentation of services.

  • Provides patient education through verbal explanation, visual demonstration, or written documentation.
  • Complete reporting activities as required by regulatory and departmental standards including but not limited to: daily notation of therapy, all progress reports with updates, rehabilitation rounds/staff conferences, and other activities that may be assigned from time to time, i.e. splinting.
  • Comply with established ESCR policies and procedures re: quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control, confidentiality of patient information, customer service, attendance, punctuality, dress code, professional conduct, annual health assessments etc.
  • Participate in all department in-services and staff development activities.
