Requirements

  • Valid Occupational Therapist Assistant License

Responsibilities

  • Treat patients as directed by the Occupational Therapist.
  • Record daily treatment notes and weekly progress notes per OT Board requirements.
  • Treat patients according to the physician’s treatment plan.
  • Assist the nursing department in training Restorative Aides.
  • Effectively communicate with supervisors and other health team members regarding patient progress, problems, and plans.
  • Participate in in-service training programs for other staff within the facility.
  • Record evaluations, daily treatment notes, weekly progress notes, and recertification documentation in accordance with the Occupational Therapy Board State Practice Act and third-party payer requirements.
  • Record treatment changes per facility policies and procedures.
  • Instruct patients' families or nursing staff on maintenance programs and caregiver training in preparation for discharge from therapy services, and participate in discharge planning.
  • Assist with the cleaning and maintenance of the treatment area.
  • Report any issues with department equipment to ensure it is kept in good working order.
  • Relate effectively and positively with patients, families, staff, and professional colleagues.
