About The Position

A licensed Occupational Therapist employed by Erlanger Health System, is responsible for direct and indirect care in the rehabilitation of the patient in an outpatient setting. Primary treatment conditions include, but not limited to: Peripheral nerve injuries, Crush injuries, Repetitive motion disorders, and Tendon injuries. Services provided will include Post-operative management, Custom orthoses, splint modification, Joint mobilization, Manual therapy, Instrument-assisted soft tissue techniques, Taping, Wound and scar management, Edema control, Work simulation, Range of motion, Strengthening. Independence with custom fabricating orthotics of any type and completing basic to moderately complex hand injury evaluations. The therapist provides occupational therapy evaluations, develops an individual plan of treatment for each patient, and provides age-appropriate treatment. They participate in team meetings and discharge planning, and educate patients and their families in the patient's treatment program. The role also involves directing Occupational Therapist Assistants and Patient Care Technicians in patient treatments, maintaining accurate written reports, and upholding standards set by the American Occupational Therapy Association regarding treatment procedures and professional ethics. Participation in continuing education programs, community education, acting as a clinical instructor for OT and COTA students, and contributing to the Continuous Quality Improvement efforts of the department and Medical Center are also key aspects of the position.

Requirements

  • Licensed Occupational Therapist in the State of Tennessee.
  • Knowledge of general occupational therapy principles and practical skills.
  • Tennessee licensure and registration in Occupational Therapy.
  • BLS completed prior to going to the unit/ department and maintained going forward.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Experience in application of custom splinting pre and post-op orthopedic
