About The Position

Our Lady of Consolation is a proud member of Catholic Health and a recognized leader in providing exceptional quality driven care. We offer Long Term, Post-Acute and Skilled Nursing services. Our Lady of Consolation is located on the beautiful Great South Bay and is comprised of a 345-bed nursing and rehabilitative care center. Our nurses, physicians and support staff are devoted to providing patient driven health care in an environment of compassion to our patients, their families and our community. The Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) works under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist to provide rehabilitative services to residents in a skilled nursing facility. The OTA assists residents in achieving and maintaining the highest possible level of independence in activities of daily living (ADLs), mobility, cognitive functioning, and overall quality of life while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and facility regulations.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
  • Current Occupational Therapy Assistant license in New York State.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a skilled nursing facility, rehabilitation center, or long-term care setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and rehabilitation documentation requirements preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Implement occupational therapy treatment plans developed by the Occupational Therapist.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions to improve residents' functional abilities, strength, coordination, balance, and independence.
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living, including dressing, grooming, bathing, feeding, and toileting techniques.
  • Monitor resident progress and report changes in condition, response to treatment, and goals attainment to the supervising Occupational Therapist.
  • Accurately document treatments, resident progress, and outcomes in accordance with facility policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain resident confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including nursing, social services, dietary, and rehabilitation staff, to promote optimal resident outcomes.
  • Instruct residents, families, and caregivers in therapeutic exercises, adaptive equipment use, and safety techniques.
