About The Position

NextGen Federal Systems is seeking a Occupational Safety Specialist to support our Safety and Occupational Health Initiatives for our CECOM program on Aberdeen Proving Ground.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated, relevant experience
  • Experience working in security capacity with Army, Joint Staff, and/or DoD organizations
  • Military experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, particularly Word and PowerPoint
  • Self-motivated with strong oral and written communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail to operate in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Must have an active Secret level security clearance and TS/SCI eligibility

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree desired but not required

Responsibilities

  • Comply with all applicable SOH directives, standards, and regulations.
  • Assist managers, supervisors, and the SOH Specialists in implementing the SOH Program.
  • Provide a channel of communication between employees and management to assist management in providing a safe and healthful workplace.
  • Assist the supervisor with reporting and logging hazards, near-misses, and accidents.
  • Assist supervisor with the submission of trouble calls to correct identified hazards immediately, dependent upon risk.
  • Conduct daily walk-thrus, scanning the work areas for hazards and non-compliance, and initiate appropriate actions to correct deficiencies.
  • Be responsible for delivering SOH pass-ups/pass-downs (promotional awareness, messages etc.) to all employees within their work areas.
  • Attend safety and health management and technical training as necessary to remain proficient in assigned responsibilities.
  • If applicable recognize CECOM employees for performing their duties safely, going above and beyond to remove hazards, and/or reporting near misses and hazards.
  • Provide input for corrective actions to supervisor, safety committee and SOH personnel.
  • Accompany safety committee members (if applicable) along with a supervisor or work leader on monthly inspections of their work center.
  • Provide feedback to the CECOM Directorate for Safety on work center safety hazards/issues.
  • Assist CECOM SOH personnel on work center safety issues, inspections, and accident/near miss investigations
