About The Position

Amentum is seeking an Occupational Safety & Health Nurse to support their SOS Contract in Pittsburgh, PA. In a small team environment, the nurse will assist in the day-to-day operations of the Occupational Health Unit (OHU). This includes evaluating and caring for patients with occupational and non-occupational health issues, performing various occupational health tests, and evaluating their results. The role ensures compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, plans, policies, and procedures. The nurse will also be responsible for entering medical testing results into the medical database and providing hard copies to employees as requested, after physician review. They will assist in assessing programs for regulatory compliance and best medical practices, prepare reports, and make recommendations for improvements. The position requires staying updated on current developments in occupational health issues and associated laws and regulations. Under physician direction, the nurse will provide phlebotomy services, administer immunizations and over-the-counter medications, and perform tests such as vision testing, pulmonary function tests (PFT/spirometry), EKG, UA by dipstick, and audiograms for clearances. The role involves determining employees who need entry into various health programs (hearing, respirator, medical surveillance, etc.) and documenting employee visits, injuries, illnesses, and treatments in the medical record and database. Ensuring correct testing procedures and appropriate documentation of results is crucial. The nurse will report injuries as required by company, State, and Federal regulations, manage workers’ compensation cases, and maintain case files. Participation in periodic health inspections, providing appropriate medical restriction information to supervisors without violating HIPAA, referring employees for ergonomic evaluations, and participating in emergency response drills are also key responsibilities. The role includes participating in employee training, such as CPR/AED/FA, providing consultations, wellness education, site tours, and referrals, and performing other milestones as requested by DOE.

Requirements

  • US Citizen
  • 5-10 years as a Registered Nurse in a medical facility.
  • Must have and maintain all credentialing and state licensure requirements.
  • Bachelor of Science, Nursing (BSN) with current WV or PA state RN licensure required.
  • BLS certification required.

Nice To Haves

  • Occupational Health experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Workers' Compensation program case management preferred.
  • Dual licensure in WV and PA a plus.
  • ACLS and AHA BLS instructor a plus.
  • Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN) or Certified Occupational Health Nurse-Specialist (COHN-S) desired.

Responsibilities
