ERG is seeking an experienced occupational safety and health (OSH) manager to provide full-time support to a broad range of projects and programs in support of military defense facilities and operations. Managed activities include – but are not limited to – energetics and explosives research, development, testing, manufacturing, and decontamination; industrial facility renovation, demolition, and construction; building systems design, installation, and troubleshooting; grounds maintenance, including snow removal; transportation; and heavy equipment operation. The position will be fulltime onsite at ERG’s office in Indian Head, MD. Indian Head is located approximately 30 miles from Washington, DC, 25 miles from Alexandria, VA, and 60 miles from Fredericksburg, VA.

Requirements

• Direct experience interpreting and applying local, state, and federal OSH standards, regulations, and requirements, including EM385 1-1 and other DoD requirements
• 8+ years of progressive experience in OSH, industrial safety, construction safety, or related discipline
• Familiarity with OSHA requirements and safety practices related to lockout/tagout, confined space entry, fall protection, aerial lifts and mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs), and respiratory protection programs
• Experience conducting workplace inspections, job hazard analyses (JHAs), risk assessments, incident investigations, and corrective action follow-up
• Experience developing, implementing, and evaluating safety management systems and programs to ensure regulatory compliance and reduce workplace hazards
• Demonstrated ability to identify safety risks, recommend mitigation measures, and communicate findings and recommendations
• Experience leading safety training, promoting employee engagement, and fostering a proactive safety culture
• Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, clients, subcontractors, and regulatory personnel
• Must currently hold or be able to obtain a Department of Defense Secret-level security clearance
• Must be a U.S. citizen as this position is not eligible for Limited Access Authorizations

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Safety Engineering, or a related field
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) credential
• Experience supporting DoD/federal sites, military installations, or other government facilities

Responsibilities

• Review and ensure full compliance with local, state, and federal occupational safety and health standards, regulations, and requirements on a broad range of projects and programs
• Manage, coordinate, and track employee occupational health requirements, including pre-employment and job-specific physical examinations, respiratory medical evaluations, respirator fit testing, drug testing, and other medical surveillance requirements
• Prepare and/or review standard operating procedures
• Perform and fully document walkthroughs and OSH inspections of industrial and manufacturing areas, storage facilities, test ranges, laboratories, construction sites, and administrative spaces
• Perform follow-up inspections to close out recommendations, specifically on hazard abatement deficiencies in accordance with 29 CFR 1960
• Track the status of open actions using databases, spreadsheets, SharePoint lists, or Power Platform solutions
• Routinely interact with program managers, federal government clients, and a variety of stakeholders
• Serve as a competent person and review, update, and present training on a variety of OSH topics
• Manage and fully document mishap and incident investigations
