Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent level of training.
  • One year practical experience in computer usage.
  • 3+ years of experience, preferably in healthcare industry.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Performs Employee Health/Occupational Health registrations, scheduling.
  • Collects accurate and complete patient information and enter in the system within established time frames.
  • Schedules appointments accurately in Epic; Pre-registers patients scheduled no later than 24 hours prior to date of services.
  • Upon pre-registration or registration, verifies with contracted company that all patient information is current and factual.
  • Provides and explains all registration documents (I.e. general consent form, HIPAA information, Patient Rights Information).
  • Obtains all appropriate required signatures.
  • After completion of registration process, ensures that an identification bracelet has been placed on all patients, and checks information accuracy.
  • Accurately enters orders/charges using EPIC System.
  • Monitors cash collection and data collection on registration to ensure employees adhere to hospital guidelines and follows facility's guidelines for up front collection (i.e. co-pays, deductibles, self pay), logging ledgers and receipts accurately.
  • Supervises Patient Representatives in the registration area; is accountable for overseeing their performance and supervising the accomplishment of established goals.
  • Ensures appropriate staffing by Patient Representatives based on the department's needs and coordinates the time off.
  • Refers billing problems to manager for resolution.
  • Demonstrates flexibility as well as ability to perform multiple functions to increase departmental efficiency.
  • Interfaces with and acts as a resource for all staff to communicate changes and updated to affected employees in order to promote ongoing compliance.
  • Keeps track of the details of each contract and ensures information is provided to all necessary staff.
  • Demonstrates willingness to assist co-workers in the completion of daily tasks or special projects to support the department's needs.
  • Trains new staff, pacing the material appropriately and providing information in the manner best suited to the staff (i.e. verbal vs. written)
  • Responds to the manager's request for information and assistance in a timely and courteous manner.
  • Works through correspondence on a daily basis.
  • Consistently demonstrates a clear understanding of departmental needs and job functions as assigned by department manager.
  • Makes recommendations for action and improvement for the department
  • Assumes the lead on responsibilities for daily functions of the assigned area(s) during supervisor or manager's absence
