About The Position

The Occupational Health Specialist promotes, protects, and optimizes the health, safety, and well-being of employees in occupational and industrial environments. This role delivers injury prevention, early intervention, ergonomic services, employee health education, and occupational health support within client facilities. Occupational Health Specialists come from a variety of licensed healthcare professions and maintain all required state and national credentials applicable to their discipline. Working collaboratively with employers, employees, healthcare providers, and safety teams, this position supports safe workplaces, regulatory compliance, and positive return-to-work outcomes.

Requirements

  • Current or eligible state licensure, certification, or registration in an applicable healthcare profession.
  • Ability to maintain all required professional credentials.
  • Knowledge of occupational health, injury prevention, workplace safety, and healthcare practices.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and computer skills.
  • Ability to work independently while exercising sound clinical judgment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in occupational health, industrial medicine, athletic training, physical therapy, nursing, emergency medical services, or a related healthcare field.
  • Experience with ergonomics, OSHA regulations, workers' compensation, industrial safety, case management, or wellness programming.

Responsibilities

  • Perform injury triage, first aid, and early intervention within scope of practice.
  • Assess musculoskeletal complaints and coordinate appropriate care or referrals.
  • Monitor recovery and support return-to-work efforts.
  • Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical documentation.
  • Conduct ergonomic assessments and workplace observations.
  • Identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support injury prevention initiatives, OSHA compliance, and incident investigations.
  • Assist with wellness programs, health screenings, and surveillance initiatives.
  • Educate employees on injury prevention, body mechanics, stretching, and healthy work practices.
  • Build positive relationships with employees, client representatives, healthcare providers, and safety personnel.
  • Communicate health trends and recommendations while participating in quality improvement initiatives.
