About The Position

The Occupational Health Nurse provides preventative measures to ensure the health and safety of workers at IVXP. This role involves working closely with employees and management to ensure all health and safety standards are met, acting as an advocate for employee rights by ensuring access to preventative health and safety measures. The goal is to maximize employee productivity and overall health and safety, thereby reducing disability claims, on-the-job injury claims, and absenteeism, ultimately creating a safer and healthier work environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing
  • Occupational Health Nurse certification
  • Five years’ experience in manufacturing
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel and Power Point
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local regulations.
  • Knowledgeable of Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) requirements
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills

Responsibilities

  • Provide medical services to employees, including evaluation, treatment, and case management of occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses.
  • Schedule, conduct, and follow up on federally regulated and IVXP mandated physical exams.
  • Perform OSHA required interim hearing tests, pulmonary function exams, respirator fit testing, and medical management of IVXP Hearing Conservation Program and IVXP Respirator Program.
  • Conduct pre-employment, random, and follow-up drug and alcohol tests.
  • Responsible for medical approval of Family Medical Leave Act absences and coordination of information with HR representative.
  • Interact with contract physician and employee’s physician when appropriate to provide timely and appropriate return to work for both non-occupational and occupational injuries and illnesses (case management).
  • Oversee immunization program for expatriate employees, employees on temporary foreign assignments, and employees participating in voluntary immunization programs.
  • Responsible for Employee Health and Wellness program activities.
  • Counsel employees and refer them to the Employee Assistant Program (EAP) or other resources when appropriate.
  • Responsible for Bloodborne Pathogen Program management, including training and immunization of first responders and exposure follow-up procedures.
  • Provide oversight/audit of contractor medical programs by consulting with the contractor Occupational Health Nurse to ensure the provision of first aid treatment, case management of contractor injuries, and onsite medical surveillance is being completed as contracted.
  • Provide consultation to the Leadership Team and supervisors on health and medical issues.
  • Conduct ergonomic evaluations and consultations.
  • Coordinate and participate in onsite CPR training as an American Heart Association BLS Instructor.
  • Perform office management functions including computer entry, maintenance of calibration and logbooks, and medical record maintenance.
  • Maintain and update Occupational Health Nurse Protocol Manual and Medical Department Procedure Manual.
  • Negotiate and oversee contracts with outside providers of supplies and services.
  • Order and maintain proper medical supplies to adequately perform job tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with federal regulations such as the Americans with Disabilities Act, FMLA, and OSHA.
  • Evaluate and update implementation of plant-specific Pandemic Response Plan by continuing to monitor WHO and IVXP communication regarding changes in pandemic status.
  • Consult with contract physician and IVXP Industrial Hygienist annually to evaluate medical examination components and job classifications to ensure compliance and improve wellness.
  • Manage the site’s Worker Compensation program.
  • Maintain a strong code of confidentiality.
  • Maintain a clean and well-organized work area.
  • Attend meetings and training as required and maintain professional certifications.
  • Comply with all HSSE programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Perform special projects and miscellaneous duties as assigned.
  • Conduct new employee orientation regarding the onsite Occupational Health Program.
  • Manage the Wellness Committee, including the Fitness Reimbursement Plan.
