About The Position

White Oak Medical Center seeks to hire an experienced Occupational Health Nurse Practitioner (NP) Manager who will embrace our mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental and spiritual healing. As an Occupational Health Nurse Practitioner (NP) Manager, you will lead and manage the local Occupational Health staff to deliver excellent service. You will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate needs for training and education to enhance the health and safety of our workforce. You will also act as a partner and resource to local HR leaders and management with issues related to medical disability and return to work (RTW) programs, demonstrating knowledge of FMLA, ADA, and Workers’ Comp regulations. The role involves performing physical exams/health assessments, diagnosing, and implementing therapeutic regimens for workplace injury and illness, and collaborating with the OH RN/NP WC Case Manager for prompt return to work. Additionally, you will develop/revise policies and procedures, work collaboratively with multi-disciplines to achieve campus OH and system goals, and enhance HCW safety and hazard elimination. You will support and ensure execution of all Occupational Health programs and initiatives, monitor, trend, and analyze injury data, and manage annual mandatory health programs like TB testing, Fit testing, Flu shots, and other HCW immunizations and medical surveillance programs. The position also involves managing campus WC costs, implementing strategies for reduction, monitoring supply utilization, and ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of the worker’s compensation program. Oversight of OSHA logs and ensuring compliance with reporting regulations is crucial. You will be a member of the local emergency response team, managing HCW screening during emergencies, and providing occupational health services for physicians and contractual services as needed. Practice adherence to the Nurse Practitioner-Physician collaborative agreement and AHC Occupational Health policies is required, alongside providing excellent and compassionate care with kindness and utmost respect.

Requirements

  • BSN, MSN.
  • A registered Nurse licensed in the State of Maryland is required.
  • ANCC or AANP Certified as an Adult or Family Nurse Practitioner in Maryland.
  • 3-6-year NP experience.
  • CPR Certified by the American Heart Association.
  • Must be approved/credentialed as a staff affiliate by the Medical/Dental staff.
  • Ability to diplomatically work with employees and medical staff regarding occupational health or WC-related issues.
  • Good PC skills including Internet, email, and Windows environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in Occupational Health, Case Management, or experience in occupational health nursing or related field preferred.
  • Office management preferred.
  • Experience with Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Skype, and Workday preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and manages the local Occupational Health staff to deliver excellent service.
  • Assesses for, plans, helps implement, and evaluates needs for training and education to enhance the health and safety of our workforce.
  • Works as a partner and resource to the local HR leaders and management with issues related to medical disability and return to work (RTW) program.
  • Performs physical exams / or health assessments, diagnosing, and implementing therapeutic regimens for workplace injury and illness.
  • Works with the OH RN/NP WC Case Manager to ensure injured workers prompt return to work in modified or full duty.
  • As needed, performs post-offer medical history/health assessments in accordance with standard of care practices and hospital policies.
  • Develops/revises policies and procedures to support employee health functions and meeting regulatory compliances.
  • Works collaboratively with multi-disciplines to achieve the campus OH and system’s goals.
  • Works with management to enhance HCW safety and hazard elimination (HEP), injury investigation, root cause identification, reduction in frequency and cost.
  • Supports and ensures execution of all Occupational Health programs initiatives.
  • Monitors, trends, and analyzes injury data and reports quarterly to entity Directors and VPs, as well as Safety and IPAC committees.
  • Manages the annual mandatory TB Testing, Fit testing, Flu and other HCW immunizations and medical surveillance programs, as per CDC guidelines.
  • Manages campus WC cost and implements strategy to reduce frequency and cost per campus Hazard Elimination Annual Plan (HEP).
  • Monitors supply utilization.
  • Works with the RN/NP WC Case Manager to ensure the accuracy and timelessness of the worker’s compensation program and claim management.
  • Oversees/manages the proper maintenance of the OSHA logs.
  • Ensures OSHA log 300 A Summary is signed by the CEO and published at the end of each January, as per regulation.
  • Is a member of the local emergency response team.
  • Manages the entity HCW screening during an emergency event as per policy following guidance from the Incident Command Center and the Health Department.
  • Provides occupational health services for physicians and other contractual services as needed.
  • Ensures that practice adheres to Nurse Practitioner-Physician collaborative agreement as well as AHC Occupational Health policies.
