About The Position

Imagineers LLC is a highly regarded Property Management Company in Hartford. We manage the Housing Choice Voucher program for numerous housing authorities including the City of Hartford, as well as managing over 200 Condominium Associations and Rental Properties throughout the State of Connecticut. We are a family-oriented company and our roots date back to 1973. As an Occupancy Specialist at Imagineers, you will manage tenant eligibility, intake, and compliance rules for affordable housing programs. You will routinely interview clients, perform eligibility determinations, prepare contracts and lease agreements, maintain an accurate record keeping system and effectively liaise between landlords and tenants. You will maintain a caseload of ongoing eligibility certifications that will be portability and project based. You will also be responsible for day-to-day program functions.

Requirements

  • At least two years of undergraduate course work (bachelor's degree preferred)
  • Two years' experience in public housing, Section 8, counseling, case management, apartment management, eligibility and/or social work, or equivalent combinations of education and experience.
  • Experience working with portability and project-based regulations and caseload.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational and computer skills.
  • Quick learner who works well independently, takes initiative, is a self-starter, responsible, reliable and mature.
  • Proper phone etiquette
  • Must be bilingual Spanish and English

Responsibilities

  • Screen applications: Verify applicant income, check assets, and run background checks under fair housing rules.
  • Calculate rent: Determine tenant payment amounts and match residents with eligible tax credits or benefit programs.
  • Maintain records: Update databases, handle recertifications, and manage waiting lists.
  • Manage tenant eligibility, intake, and compliance rules for affordable housing programs.
  • Routinely interview clients.
  • Perform eligibility determinations.
  • Prepare contracts and lease agreements.
  • Maintain an accurate record keeping system.
  • Effectively liaise between landlords and tenants.
