The Obstetrics Registered Nurse provides compassionate, skilled care to expectant mothers during labor, delivery, and the postpartum period, as well as care for newborns. The RN monitors maternal and fetal well-being, assists with delivery, administers medications, educates patients and families, and responds promptly to complications. When there are no active patients in the Obstetrics unit, the RN is assigned to the Med/Surg unit to support staffing and continuity of care. This requires adaptability and clinical expertise across both units. In the Med/Surg unit, the RN assesses and plans care for adult patients with medical and surgical conditions; administers medications, IV therapy, and wound care; supports post-operative recovery and chronic illness management; and responds to acute-care needs and emergencies. The RN documents and communicates patient care, collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, delegates and oversees assigned tasks, and provides emotional and educational support to patients and families. The RN also attends at least 75% of nursing staff meetings, participates in in-service education, and orients and mentors new staff. The position requires a current RN license in Idaho or an approved compact state, an accredited nursing-school education, and the specified certifications. A BSN is preferred. Weekend, holiday, and rotating-shift work may be required.
