About The Position

Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is seeking a full-time (flexible to consider part-time) general OB/GYN provider to join the Richmond Hospital OB/GYN team. This is a permanent position with a Fee-for-Service compensation type. The team is dynamic and collegial, valuing diversity and working with a multidisciplinary team of physicians, midwives, and nursing staff. The successful candidate will have an interest in General Gynecology and Consultative obstetrical care for high-risk pregnancy, with strong skills in minimally invasive surgery (laparoscopic and hysteroscopic procedures) being required. An interest in urogynecology procedures is an asset. Richmond Hospital is a 240-bed community hospital delivering 1500-2000 babies annually. Successful candidates will be expected to take call (8-10 12-hour shifts per month) and will have access to the OR for surgical gynecologic care. Outpatient office work is at the applicant's discretion. Richmond Hospital is also a community academic teaching hospital, serving as a core 3rd-year clerkship site for UBC Faculty of Medicine and an elective site for senior residents from the UBC OBGYN Residency Program. Applicants must have an interest in or additional training in medical education. Participation in department administration and quality review is expected. Strong communication skills and a commitment to a Respectful Workplace and supporting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in healthcare are required. The city of Richmond is ethnically diverse, centrally located in Metro Vancouver, and situated on the unceded and traditional homelands of the Coast Salish peoples.

Requirements

  • Current College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC) – Full License
  • Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) - Mandatory
  • Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC) - Mandatory
  • Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC) - Mandatory
  • Obstetric Experience - Mandatory
  • Surgical Skills - Mandatory
  • Surgical Skills in Gynecology
  • Up to date certification of Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
  • Up to date certification in Fetal Health Surveillance
  • Strong communication skills
  • Commitment to a Respectful Workplace
  • Interest in or additional training in medical education

Responsibilities

  • Provide General Gynecology and Consultative obstetrical care for high-risk pregnancy.
