This PRN OBGYN Hospitalist position involves providing labor and delivery care for maternal transport patients in consultation with perinatology, and offering surgical assistance on the Family Birthing Center. The role includes providing emergency backup care for unassigned OB patients requiring evaluation and hospital care, including delivery, as well as caring for unassigned GYN patients requiring hospital care. The physician will make all professional medical judgments in the care of patients seen, manage the physician/patient relationship, and participate in system-wide health management initiatives. Responsibilities also include receiving and resolving patient complaints, participating in provider recruitment, and enhancing professional growth through educational programs. The OBGYN Hospitalist is accountable for the overall quality of care and clinical outcomes within assigned facilities, attending OB hospitalist meetings, QI, and Peer Review. Maintaining coding and encounter data standards, meeting credentialing and QI standards, and participating in the development of clinical standards for inpatient care are also key aspects of the role. Knowledge of NICHD nomenclature for electronic fetal monitoring (EFM) is required, and the physician will work with the Medical Director to ensure proper provider staffing and vacation coverage, completing medical records in a timely fashion.
