About The Position

Desert Valley Hospital is an accredited 148-bed acute care hospital in Southern California, recognized for clinical performance and quality awards. It offers key services including labor and delivery. The OB Technician performs a variety of patient care and clerical duties to assist and support the Labor/Delivery/Recovery/Postpartum (LDRP) unit. This role involves working cooperatively under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse, providing direct care to patients of various ages (neonate, adolescent, adult), and interacting with physicians, patients, families, hospital staff, and community agencies. The OB Technician is also responsible for completing and processing birth certificates and "Declaration of Paternity" forms. The position is in a fast-paced work environment serving an underserved community.

Requirements

High School Diploma or Equivalent
BLS Certification within 30 days and maintain current
Successful completion of a Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, EMT, ROP, Paramedic Training Program, Certified Surgical Scrub Technician or equivalent required. (State Specific)

Responsibilities

Performs a variety of patient care and clerical duties to assist and support the organization and function of the Labor/Delivery/Recovery/Postpartum (LDRP)
Works cooperatively with and under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse
Provides direct care to patient of various ages (neonate, adolescent, adult)
Interacts with physicians, patients, families/significant others, hospital staff and community agencies in providing basic care
Responsible for completion and processing of the birth certificates, and "Declaration of Paternity" forms
