About The Position

The OB Postpartum department at Longmont United Hospital has 11 LDRP beds, six Level II Special Care Nursery beds, two ORs and a three-bed triage. Our scope is Labor and Delivery, postpartum couplet care (mom & well baby), antepartum care, C-sections, Level II nursery and care for babies 32 weeks and up. Our department gets occasional overflow with gynecological surgery patients. We have a strong, supportive culture with all BirthPlace employees and providers and provide a very positive team environment. The right candidate must have a positive attitude and want to work in a strongly supportive team environment. They need to be able to learn quickly and be someone who can multitask and handle ongoing change without getting flustered. This person will need to be flexible and able to work at a fast pace.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
  • Basic computer skills required
  • High School graduate or GED, required
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association, required
  • Colorado Surgical Assistant License or Surgical Technician upon hire unless performing Surgical Assistant duties within the scope of another active Colorado license, certification, or registration (required for Colorado employed staff only)

Nice To Haves

  • One-year patient care experience preferred, i.e. OB Tech, LPN/LVN, EMT, CNA,
  • Medical Assistant or Surgical Tech experience preferred
  • Scrub Tech Certification preferred
  • Completion of a Surgical Tech program, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assists with vaginal deliveries under the direction of a Registered Nurse and provider and within scope of practice.
  • Functions as a Scrub Tech for surgical procedures.
  • Maintains supplies and equipment on the unit.
  • Assists with maintenance of Point of Care Testing and High Level Disinfection equipment.
  • Performs clerical and business support tasks as assigned.
  • Assumes personal accountability for organizational mission and core values.
