About The Position

The OB Surgical Technician is responsible for creating and maintaining sterile fields for services and surgical procedures performed within Maternal Child Services. The technician serves as the sterile scrub person for procedures and other circumstances within the Labor and Delivery suites. The role also supports the physical environment and day-to-day operations of Labor and Delivery, assists with patients, and communicates patient cost-sharing responsibilities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology.
• Maintain current Surgical Technician Certification.

Nice To Haves

• Previous work experience within Maternal Child Services or Perioperative Services.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the Labor and Delivery physical environment by providing required medical and surgical supplies and equipment.
• Clean, organize, and restock items used within the Labor and Delivery suites.
• Handle, contain, and label irreplaceable specimens for laboratory analysis or disposal.
• Perform routine housekeeping duties as necessary.
• Effectively communicate co-insurance, deductible, and copayment responsibilities to patients.
• Assist with preparation, transportation, and supervision of patients as requested.
• Perform other duties as required.
