About The Position

The Couplet Care Registered Nurse provides nursing care, treatment, counseling and health education to the OB couplet, i.e. postpartum mothers and their newborns, & to gynecologic patients. The Couplet Care RN utilizes nursing skills to determine the biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care and educational needs of the patient/family/significant other to develop, implement, and revise the plan of care. The RN is responsible for planning and coordination of care across the continuum in an efficient and safe manner consistent with the unit's standard of care. This planning and coordination includes meeting and exceeding compliance with core measures, contributes to reduction in LOS, active participation with all aspects of quality, safety and performance improvement activities, accurate documentation of care, collaboration with all the members of the multidisciplinary team in providing outstanding customer service to patients, family members, physicians and the public. Serves as the Resource nurse when oriented and as directed. Supports the organization’s vision and mission. Utilizes knowledge of patient's age, developmental status, spiritual and cultural diversity into the provision of patient care. Contributes to the provision of quality nursing care through evidence-based practice and performance improvement techniques that demonstrate positive outcomes in patient care. Meets and exceeds the Department of Health Service (DHS), The Joint Commission (TJC), California Maternity Quality Care Collaborative (CMQCC), and other regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing certificate.
  • Licensure in the state of California as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Proficient in oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to practice leadership, interpersonal skills, communication skills, teamwork, quality improvement and professionalism.
  • Current California RN license
  • minimum 1 year acute care experience or equivalent
  • Graduate of approved nursing program certificate
  • Current NRP, BCLS (AHA), NIHS Stroke cert.
  • Proficiency in both written and oral English

Nice To Haves

  • Spanish, Chinese (Mandarin/Cantonese) prefer
  • Breastfeeding Training PT 1 & PT 2 within 6 months of hire
