About The Position

The OB Labor Delivery Scrub Tech I, working full-time on nights, demonstrates Decatur Morgan Hospital’s mission, vision, and values. Under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse, this role performs various duties to assist in patient care. Responsibilities include transcribing physician orders, managing patient calls, answering and transferring telephone calls, maintaining supply inventories and office equipment, ensuring the overall organization of the nurses' station, performing first scrub procedures in the Delivery Operating Room, and assisting in vaginal deliveries.

• High school graduate or GED.
• Current BLS required.
• Must live within 30 min drive.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in clerical or receptionist position helpful.
• Previous experience in scrub role helpful.
• Hospital experience and knowledge of medical terminology preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Under the direct supervision of licensed nurses performs duties as assigned.
• Courteously answers patient calls giving the patient reassurance and immediately notifying nursing personnel of patient’s needs.
• Initiates, assembles and maintains charts from admission to discharge. Following discharge, prepares the chart for transport to health information management.
• Knowledgeable of and performs computer applications as appropriate to clerical responsibilities.
• Maintain appropriate inventories of forms and supplies.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
• Perform first scrub role in Delivery OR.
• Stock department and OR after procedures.
