About The Position

The OBGYN Social Worker provides comprehensive psychosocial assessment, intervention, and support services to patients and their families within the Obstetrics and Gynecology department. This role focuses on addressing the social, emotional, and practical needs of patients throughout their reproductive health journey, including pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum, gynecological conditions, and family planning. The social worker collaborates closely with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure holistic patient care and facilitate access to necessary resources.

Requirements

  • Masters in social work is required.
  • 2 years’ experience in the social work field.
  • MSW with NY state licensure in 12 months accepted.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred experience in hospital social work
  • LMSW preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive psychosocial assessment, intervention, and support services to patients and their families within the Obstetrics and Gynecology department.
  • Address the social, emotional, and practical needs of patients throughout their reproductive health journey, including pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum, gynecological conditions, and family planning.
  • Collaborate closely with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure holistic patient care.
  • Facilitate access to necessary resources for patients.
  • Participate in case review to facilitate an interdisciplinary approach to hospital care.
  • Actively guard the confidentiality of sensitive information including but not limited to the patients, associates, and the Health System.
  • Use social work theory and practice models to guide care plans of patients.
  • Proactively resolve problems, recommend, and implement continuous quality improvement.
  • Complete assessments appropriate to the presentation of the patient.
  • Complete safety planning with patients as needed.
  • Provide linkages and referrals to community resources as needed.
  • Understand and comply with hospital level and department level policies and procedures.
  • Manage day to day assignments.
  • Participate in health systems and community committees.
