About The Position

The OB/Gyn Clerkship Director will be knowledgeable about the school’s values, culture, and educational goals and objectives, serving as a departmental education leader. This role requires establishing and maintaining positive relationships with patients, visitors, and employees, interacting professionally and courteously. The director will contribute to and participate in Performance/Quality Improvement activities, including data collection, analysis, and compliance with risk management and safety policies. Key responsibilities include planning and organizing orientation and activities for medical students, assessing the educational value of clinical and didactic activities, and serving as a link between students, faculty, and residents. The director will collaborate with residents and residency program directors, participate in presentations on teaching medical students, and meet regularly with students individually and in groups to address any issues. Additionally, the role involves developing conferences and trainings, creating a rotation curriculum that complements the school’s curriculum, coordinating teaching efforts, evaluating student performance, and mentoring students interested in educational research.

Requirements

Experience in didactic and/or clinical teaching of medical students
Knowledge of the institutions pre-clinical and clinical curriculum
Good communication skills and interpersonal relationships
Flexibility/adaptability
Research interests in education
NYS Medical License ( Physician)
Bachelor’s
MD
Excellent Organizational Skills
Excellent People Skills (Verbal and Written)
Able to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment

Periodic meetings with experienced Clerkship Directors from other specialties and associate dean as a mentor.

Responsibilities

Establish and maintain positive relationships with patients, visitors, and other employees.
