O&M Technician - Water Treatment Facility
About The Position
The O&M Technician participates in operating, maintaining, and repairing water and wastewater treatment facilities. The role includes monitoring plant equipment and treatment processes, collecting samples, conducting tests and laboratory analyses, maintaining accurate records, and adjusting chemical treatment as needed. The technician also supports regulatory inspections and responds to accidental releases of hazardous liquids and gases, including performing confined-space entries as required. Work routinely takes place outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, including very hot or cold temperatures. The work environment is usually moderately noisy.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to communicate professionally, orally and in writing, with team members, management, clients, and vendors.
- Knowledge of safety procedures in maintenance and operations.
- Ability to operate electric motors fueled by gasoline, diesel, or gaseous fuels, as well as paint, welding, and fabrication equipment and other required hand tools.
Nice To Haves
- Some water and/or wastewater experience.
- MA Grade T2 Water Treatment License.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and operate wastewater treatment plant equipment, including pumps, valves, motors, blowers, and chemical feed equipment.
- Adjust and repair wastewater treatment plant equipment.
- Collect samples, run tests, and keep records.
- Adjust or alter chemical treatment of plant processes as required.
- Participate in treatment processes, plant laboratory analyses, and the operation and maintenance of plant equipment.
- Complete and maintain plant records and reports accurately and on time.
- Assist regulatory representatives inspecting the plant.
- Respond to and control accidental releases of hazardous liquids and gases.
- Perform confined-space entries as required.
- Observe pump and motor operation and routinely monitor equipment.
- Maintain daily records by writing in a logbook and entering data into a computer.
