About The Position

The primary responsibilities of this role will be to operate, troubleshoot, repair and maintain all mechanical, I/C, and electrical high voltage equipment with as required to support plant operations and maximize asset value. The incumbent in this position must be able to communicate across all levels of the organization. The O & M Technician must have previously passed testing requirements and qualifications before performing this role. The O & M Technician must have good knowledge of PLC’s, control systems, electrical and mechanical systems.

Requirements

  • Associates' Degree in Power Plant Technology, Engineering Technology, or Electronics OR HS Diploma with minimum of 18 months of trade or technical training in Power Plant Technology
  • Successfully complete the training requirements and time in job requirements for the position including previously passing the EEI TECH test
  • Must obtain City of LA Steam Engineer’s license with Turbine Endorsement
  • Availability for rotating shift work and overtime as required
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Understanding of power plant prints
  • Valid driver's license and access to an insured vehicle
  • Ability to work in a power plant environment that includes climbing and walking long distances
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds

Responsibilities

  • Operate the plant in a safe and efficient manner, following all procedures, health and safety guidelines, and current operating practices.
  • Operates, monitors, and maintains turbines, generators, pumps, boilers, motors, combustion turbines, and associated auxiliary equipment to ensure proper operation of turbine equipment.
  • Monitor, record, and trend readings from the plant control system and steam generating equipment.
  • Monitor instrumentation readings for variances from prescribed standards, adjusting as necessary to maintain proper equipment operation, and record abnormalities in the control room log.
  • Inspect equipment at regular intervals to identify malfunctions, repair needs, or unsafe conditions, and report issues beyond the troubleshooting or repair capabilities of shift personnel to management.
  • Perform all required plant water chemistry analysis, adjust as necessary to maintain chemistry control within the plant specified limits.
  • Perform minor maintenance, outage repairs, and equipment testing, and assist with cleanliness of plant spaces and common areas.
  • Maintain required records including the computerized maintenance management system, control room logbooks, and lockout/tagout log.
  • Support safety by correcting hazards such as leaks, slip hazards, or deficiencies, and by monitoring maintenance activities to ensure proper plant operation.
  • Trains and develops new employees in performing preventive maintenance and routine equipment service activities. Practices situational leadership, environmental and safety stewardship.
