About The Position

The O&M Scheduling Engineer works with Test Engineers, Project Managers, Area Coordinators, Construction Inspectors, and Project Control Specialists to engineer, coordinate, and combine scopes of work for Operations and Maintenance activities, with the goal of maximizing productivity during scheduled clearances. The role reviews open conditions and work orders in Maximo to identify opportunities to coordinate or combine related construction and maintenance activities. It communicates with GTC Engineering and Planning departments, the GSOC Control Center, Southern Company, and other ITS members to schedule future activities. The position leads cross-functional O&M scheduling coordination, develops scheduling standards and procedures, and provides mentoring and technical guidance to lower-level engineers. A general knowledge of Operations and Maintenance, Electronic Maintenance, Relay Maintenance, and Substation Maintenance engineering processes, practices, and procedures is required.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, or an equivalent education and experience combination specified in the posting.
• For E-IV: six years of electric utility experience, or four years with a P.E.
• For E-V: eight years of electric utility experience, or six years with a P.E.
• For E-VI: ten years of electric utility experience, or eight years with a P.E.; E-VI experience must be in transmission maintenance and control center operations.
• Equivalent experience pathways are listed for technical, other, and non-degree education backgrounds, with experience in electric power transmission maintenance, electric power transmission control center operations, and/or planning.
• Ability to read and interpret specifications, safety practices, and operating procedures.
• PC skills, including email, and working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
• General knowledge of Operations and Maintenance, Electronic Maintenance, Relay Maintenance, and Substation Maintenance engineering processes, practices, and procedures.

Nice To Haves

• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred.
• IBM Maximo experience is a plus.
