About The Position

The O&M / Instrumentation, Controls, and Electrical (IC&E) Technician plays a vital role in the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the Wabash River Highland generating station. This hands-on position is responsible for operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing the plant's GE 7FA combustion turbine, balance-of-plant equipment, and electrical, instrumentation, and control systems to maximize plant reliability and availability. Working closely with operations and maintenance personnel, the successful candidate will apply strong electrical and instrumentation expertise to support safe, compliant, and dependable plant performance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Relevant experience in power generation or a comparable industrial environment, with a strong background in the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical, instrumentation, and control systems.
  • Proven hands-on experience inspecting, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems up to 480V, including motors, transformers, switchgear, MCCs, and associated plant equipment.
  • Experience operating and maintaining combustion turbine generators and balance-of-plant equipment, including safe startup, shutdown, and routine operational activities.
  • Proficiency reading, interpreting, and troubleshooting electrical schematics, ladder logic, PLC/DCS control systems, loop diagrams, and control logic drawings.
  • Skilled in interpreting P&IDs, electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to support equipment troubleshooting, maintenance, and system walkdowns.
  • Hands-on experience using electrical test equipment and instrumentation calibration tools, such as Fluke multimeters, process calibrators, oscilloscopes, and related diagnostic equipment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with operations, maintenance, contractors, and plant leadership.
  • Must possess a valid, unrestricted U.S. driver’s license and ensure it remains in good standing at all times.

Nice To Haves

  • An associate degree in instrumentation, electrical technology, power plant technology, or a related technical field is preferred.
  • Equivalent industry or military experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • Experience with GE Frame 7FA combustion turbines is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, inspect, repair, calibrate, and maintain instrumentation, electrical, and control systems supporting the GE 7FA combustion turbine and balance-of-plant equipment.
  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on electrical equipment, motors, transformers, switchgear, MCCs, instrumentation, and control devices.
  • Install, test, repair, and replace electrical equipment and wiring for systems up to 480V.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues involving PLC, DCS, SCADA, turbine control, and auxiliary control systems.
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, control schematics, ladder logic, P&IDs, loop diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Utilize industry-standard diagnostic and calibration equipment to test, troubleshoot, and verify proper system performance.
  • Support control system upgrades, modifications, and commissioning activities.
  • Assist with the operation, startup, shutdown, monitoring, and troubleshooting of the GE 7FA combustion turbine and associated auxiliary systems.
  • Monitor plant equipment and respond to alarms and abnormal operating conditions to maintain safe, reliable operation.
  • Perform plant rounds and equipment inspections to identify operational or maintenance concerns.
  • Safely perform equipment isolation, switching, lockout/tagout, and tagging activities in accordance with plant procedures.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, operating logs, equipment history, and technical documentation using the site's CMMS.
  • Assist with spare parts inventory management and support outage planning and execution.
  • Operate plant vehicles, lifting equipment, and maintenance tools using safe work practices.
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with OSHA, environmental, and plant safety requirements.
  • Participate in training, emergency response activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with operations, maintenance personnel, contractors, and vendors to support safe and reliable plant operation.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by plant leadership.
