About The Position

TC Energy is seeking an experienced and passionate NYMEX Natural Gas Trader to join its Gas Marketing team. This role is crucial for expanding commodity and regional coverage capabilities within TC Energy Marketing (TCEM) to capture and harness risk and opportunity in the energy markets. The trader will collaborate with the TC Energy Trading & Marketing team to design, develop, and implement financial gas strategies that ensure sustainable and scalable success, supporting ongoing infrastructure ambitions. The position requires expertise in trading natural gas futures, swaps, and options, along with analytical skills in fundamentals and quantitative price curve analysis. Knowledge of peripheral products like Power, natural gas liquids, and International gas markets is beneficial. The role reports into the Director, Gas Trading & Marketing, and involves working with an innovative team that has significant corporate support, backed by TC Energy’s reputable customer standing and a solid financial base in existing gas operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, finance, or Engineering
• 5+ years of experience determined based on level of role with proven Profit performance
• Ability to articulate fundamentals driving the current and future natural gas market (Supply/Demand/Infrastructure) and make decisions based on this information
• Able to conceptualize & mathematically apply risk / reward proposition to all transaction decisions and express through futures, swaps, options strategies
• Deep knowledge of energy contracts like Futures, OTC, Options, shaped contracts, collars, and other derivatives

• Knowledge of peripheral products such as Power, natural gas liquids, & International gas markets

Responsibilities

• Intentionally & methodically deploy VAR across the spectrum of tradable NYMEX Gas products, through sophisticated and balanced trading strategies
• Price and implement Option strategies for both external and internal customers
• Leverage the physical insight derived from a growing and ambitious L48 coverage platform to the benefit of enhanced portfolio returns
• Support the ongoing optimization of portfolio assets and positions to maximize earnings
• Actively contribute to the development and evolution of deep, broad & proprietary market insights
• Collaborate cross-commodity with the Power & Liquids trading desks in order to deepen underlying trade conviction
• Regularly interact with and support the Origination teams for both Natural Gas & Decarbonization initiatives
