About The Position

Harris County Public Health (HCPH) is seeking a Nutritionist to join their collaborative team. HCPH is dedicated to improving health outcomes for the residents of Harris County through a network of public health professionals. The organization focuses on innovation, engagement, and health equity to address public health issues and maintain a healthy community. The Nutritionist will play a key role in providing nutrition education and collaborating on programs related to chronic disease prevention, nutrition, and physical activity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in nutrition or related field.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written)
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and foster teamwork in a diverse environment
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information
  • Ability to work well with public and staff members
  • Must use your personal mobile device for our Multifactor Authentication process

Nice To Haves

  • At least one (1) year of experience in community nutrition or related field
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish

Responsibilities

  • Delivers engaging, evidence-based nutrition education to groups of children, adolescents, and adults within Harris County, including cooking and physical activity demonstrations.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of nutrition and physical activity curriculum, trainings, and presentations to meet the needs of the target population.
  • Plans and performs outreach activities to increase program’s engagement and participation.
  • Attends community events and builds partnerships with local organizations to promote nutrition and physical activity education.
  • Keeps abreast of current research, approaches, theories, and practices related to nutrition and physical activity.
  • Collects and analyzes program data to provide monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on progress and outcomes.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
