The Program Nutritionist provides nutrition services to WIC applicants and participants. This role involves providing nutrition care to high-risk women, infants, and children under the supervision of the senior nutritionist. Responsibilities include anthropometric and hematological data collection, dietary assessment, nutritional risk assessment, food package prescription, nutrition and breastfeeding counseling and education, documentation, data entry, referrals to other health and social services, and follow-up nutrition education. The position also involves participating in the planning, development, and evaluation of educational materials, group nutrition education sessions, participant counseling and education strategies, nutrition in-services, outreach activities, and nutrition policies. Additionally, the role assists the senior nutritionist in training paraprofessional WIC staff and conducting quality assurance activities. The Nutritionist communicates with the health care community regarding participant needs and provides nutrition care for low-risk applicants and participants as needed. Other duties include assisting in the training of CPA Is and Ils and performing quality assurance activities.
