Summary Statement This position assesses nutritional risks and determines eligibility for the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program by conducting initial certifications and recertifications. Responsibilities include providing nutrition education, assessing biochemical parameters such as hemoglobin levels and other laboratory testing to identify nutritional risk, and documenting participant needs. The incumbent consults with physicians and other healthcare professionals to assess nutritional requirements, develop dietary recommendations, and address dietary restrictions. Additionally, this position works closely with breastfeeding coordinators and peer counselors to promote optimal maternal, infant, and newborn health through education, support, and nutrition services.
