About The Position

This role involves monitoring department workflow, ensuring task completion, and enforcing policies and procedures. The lead will document staff absences and incidents, assist with onboarding and training, and serve as a resource for staff. They will provide input on areas of deficiency and recommended corrective actions, and promote organizational goals. Department-specific duties include conducting nutritional screenings, implementing diet plans, documenting screening data, collaborating with dietitians on care plans and assessments, improving care through quality management, performing menu editing, assisting with employee orientation and in-servicing on specialized diets, developing rotational menus, ensuring temperature charting is completed, managing schedules for Dietary Aides, ensuring proper onboarding of Dietary Aides, ensuring Clerks and Aides complete training, and assisting with special meals and functions.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years of experience in the department or similar roles preferred
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Preferred Certification in Dietary Management in the first 12 months.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors department workflow during assigned shifts, ensuring completion of essential tasks.
  • Enforces compliance with organization and department policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Documents staff absences/incidents during assigned shifts.
  • Assists with onboarding and training of new and existing team members.
  • Serves as a resource to department staff for questions or problems, and escalates as necessary.
  • Provides department leadership with input regarding areas of deficiency and recommended corrective actions.
  • Shares and supports organizational and departmental goals and communications.
  • Leads by example and promotes STAR standards in all interactions.
  • Conducts routine patient/resident nutritional screening which includes food/fluid intake information.
  • Implements diet plans and physicians’ diet orders using appropriate modifications.
  • Documents nutritional screening data in the medical records (i.e. care plans, MDS, etc.).
  • Works with Dietician on care plans and attends Resident care conferences.
  • Works with Dietician on nutritional assessments on hospital patients.
  • Continuously improves care and service using quality management techniques.
  • Performs menu editing as directed by the Dietician.
  • Assists in orientating and in-servicing new employees to specialized diets and preparation.
  • Works with Director to develop rotational menus.
  • Assures that all paperwork for temperature charting is properly completed.
  • Works with Director to ensure schedule needs for Dietary Aides.
  • Works with Director to ensure proper onboarding of Dietary Aides.
  • Works with Director to ensure Clerks and Aides complete Relias trainings.
  • Assists Department with Special meals and functions.
