The Nutrition Support Worker prepares, assembles, and serves nutritious meals to students while maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming food service environment. As part of e4c’s School Nutrition team, the role ensures the consistent delivery of daily meal services by following food safety standards, maintaining accurate records, and collaborating with school staff and program coordinators to support student well-being.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Alberta Food Safety Basics Certificate and Food Handler Certificate must be obtained within two weeks of hire.
  • 1+ year of experience in food handling, meal preparation, or a school or nutrition program.
  • Basic computer proficiency is required, including experience with email, data entry, Microsoft Excel, and other Microsoft Office applications or equivalent software.
  • Available to travel to various program sites throughout Edmonton as needed; access to reliable transportation is required.
  • Applicants are required to submit a Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check and Intervention Record Check.

  • Experience working with children and diverse communities, including in school, childcare, community, or nutrition settings
  • Volunteer experience and experience supporting nutrition, inclusion, or student well-being are considered assets.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, assemble, and serve nutritious meals and snacks in a safe, timely, and reliable manner.
  • Plan menus, order food and supplies, manage inventory, and support efficient meal service while minimizing waste.
  • Maintain accurate meal counts, inventory records, and program documentation to support reporting and accountability.
  • Follow Alberta Health Services, Occupational Health and Safety, and e4c food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards, ensuring a clean and safe food service environment.
  • Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and trauma-informed environment that promotes student well-being and healthy food choices.
  • Collaborate effectively with school staff, program coordinators, and community members to support consistent program delivery.
  • Participate in training, meetings, and emergency preparedness activities while ensuring compliance with organizational policies, health, safety, and privacy requirements.
